In partnership with the Casco Bay branch of the YMCA of Southern Maine, L.L.Bean strives to engage more young people in healthy, active lifestyles.
Toward that goal, L.L.Bean has dedicated all proceeds from the 10K and 1-Mile Family Fun/Run Walk for the benefit of youth programs at the Y. Since 2001, more than $430,000 has been raised through the races specifically to provide financial assistance for children participating in in youth and family programs at the YMCA in Freeport, including summer camp, pre-school, and youth swim team. The grand total over the past twenty-two years is equivalent to sending over 2,750 kids to a week of summer day camp.
The YMCA of Southern Maine is a nonprofit organization committed to building an inclusive, healthy community for all, regardless of ability to pay. They have been a strong and positive force in our community for more than 170 years. The Y’s three branches, four camps, and two childcare centers serve over 30,000 individuals each year in Cumberland and Northern York Counties.
Last year, the YMCA of Southern Maine provided more than $650,000 in financial assistance to nearly 5,800 youth, individuals, and families to ensure community access to all YMCA programs. The YMCA of Southern Maine is committed to diversity and providing an inclusive community for all. Anchored in neighborhoods throughout Cumberland and Northern York County, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence to deliver lasting personal and social change.
